About:
Abe Whittaker is a Maine native singer/songwriter engulfed in the study of old-time Americana/bluegrass, alt-country, and pop music. He started playing the banjo, ukulele, and acoustic guitar at 19 years old and went on to attend East Tennessee State University to earn his degree in bluegrass music. At ETSU, Abe had the privilege of studying under Clarence “Tater” Tate and Kristin Scott Benson where his passion for music flourished to the next level.
Abe has a unique ability to transform classic hits into his own, covering artists from Doja Cat to Tom Petty, leaving the audience both surprised and excited for more. Abe has written a wide variety of original tunes such as “Drive,” played on the acoustic guitar and his latest single “Sugarloaf,” played on the ukulele. He is inspired by artists such as Mississippi John Hurt, John Hartford, John Prine, and Johnny Cash.
You can find Abe at your local breweries in Portland and the Sugarloaf area, and piloting boats on Casco Bay. Make sure to say hello when you see him around town, and don't forget to like him on Insta and beyond!
